Default Paid primary profession change

As title says i'd like the option for a primary profession change, not sure how it will work but they did it with Razah.

It's something I want very badly because im bored out of my mind with my current main character but I don't want to create another because of all the titles I have on my main.

I'd probably pay $10 to change it if I got bored.
/signed, optional changes wouldn't hurt.

This would be extremely difficult to code I imagine.. what would you do with all the armor, weapons, etc customized to your current profession?

Plus if it costs $15 to change a name it would probably cost the price of a full mercenary pack to change a profession

Mostly if you are bored by one prof, you can buy extra slot and make a new toon.
But your GWAMM has all elites and large number of skills of that proffesion, so this would save you time spent on the new toon.
It's a good idea and it's possible.
Everything customazed to that toon remains customized, you just don't benefint from having some staves or swords.
About the armor, it would remain if possible (rit, sin, derv and para can't wear all armors), but prof specific runes and insignias would be removed.
Just like with Razah.

/Signed, despite I'd never use this

This is just an assumption.

As far as we know, it could be not as easy as it sounds, and there are many technical difficulties I can think of that make me believe it's not as simple as you make it.

While this can be done for Razah, Razah doesn't change appearence, armor set, animations, so it's relatively easy and, still, it took years for them to implement it.

EDIT - Now, I'm assuming that this suggestion involves a complete makeover to make the character look like a representative of the new profession you chose. Like, you're brought back to Character Creation Screen and prompted to redesign your character from grounds up as if you were making a new character of that profession, but at the end of the process you retain all his/her vital aspects (experience, titles, deaths, ecc...) and (converted, when possible) armors and items. We don't know wether this is feasible or not, nor the technical limitations of the game engine. Im' pretty sure this would require some HUGE work to be implemented...

If it doesn't involve a makeover, simply /not signed: it would create a lot of confusion in PvP, pretty much like costumes.

It'd be broken. But given the amount of people with GWAMM monks who run Healer's Boon /Healing Breeze; rits who only have SoS, and the amount of sins who only use Shadow Form, I don't see any reason why not.

Probably $15-20 like name change though, not $10 like appearance.

Seeing as how any character can in fact have all skills, in fact there is a title track (Skill Hunter) for this very purpose, I don't see why it would be necessary to wipe skills. It doesn't even make logical sense.

Seeing as how its possible for ANet to change sex of characters at any time as an April Fools' joke, it shows that its easy to adapt armor to whatever primary profession you are.

Runes would have to be salvaged off, but that takes all of 30 seconds, and weapons that have been customized would stay that way. Besides, how many Mesmers do you see running around with sword and spears? Tons because they're "caster" modded.

So from a logical perspective, there is absolutely no reason ANet couldn't do this, and all the coding necessary is already in place. Quite the opposite of impossible, and since the system already exists, its basically another microtransaction requiring extremely minimal effort to put in the store, and boom, yet another revenue stream for little to no input from ANet.

That's something that is already coded into the game they didn't have to do anything (notice how armor changes to the opposite sex appearance in storage if you switch to a character of the opposite sex). You wouldn't be able to keep the armor sets because they are completely different armors in most cases. Getting a new character through every campaign takes like what a week? This thread isn't about people who actually want to change their profession it's about people who want to display titles on their characters. I'll just refer you to the billions of threads about making gwamm an account wide title.

That is... Unless you're saying I could have LDOA on a Paragon

Just leave it as it is, so if you had Warrior Primeval armor it would still be Warrior Primeval armor like how it is when you transfer your armor between characters. Can see, cannot wear.

/unsigned, mostly because the primary prof is what really define your character actually.
And as said, you'd have to re-do the char creation? if you're wearing an armor incompatible with other prof (from monk eith luxon armor to para e.g) what will happen? and you'll have the old weaponset, maybe customized, become useless?

Just no. In GW the PRIMARY prof is waayy too important to be subject of change.

I've been waiting for someone to bring this up!
Make it not cheap however, $15.
And a one time only change.

For all skills related to the primary profession, wipe them.
Like they did with Razah, remove any runes on armor that have to deal with the primary profession.

Implement new armors for the primary profession

E.g. If I have a ranger with obsidian armor and want a primary elementalist, make the obsidian armor obsidian elementalist armor.

you got all those titles playing that profession and you should stick with it, if you're bored with it start a new one and achieve stuff running that primary.

As far as the lore goes, they did change Thackaray from a ranger to a paragon so in the "universe" of GW, it could happen. I play a billion characters anyway so it wouldn't interest me but I wouldn't have a problem implementing the feature for those who might want it.

And what would be the take on armor? Would it be converted in the process? What about the armor that doesn't have an equalivant like the silver eagle or exotic? Seems like too much work to program. Just pay 10 bucks for another character slot. If you have skills unlocked, you can get them again. Isn't that the main purpose of skill books? Plus, most of the PVE only skills are easy enough to reobtain.

This is just trying to cure symptoms. If they would just make all pve titles and skills account wide, it wouldn't be such a pita to make a new toon. You'd obviously have to unlock them or something. Couldn't have lvl 1 toons running around with maxed vanguard skills. But this would make it easier for people considering making a new character a lot less painful. I believe it would also bring a lot of people back.

The better fix would be to make more/most titles at least partially account wide.

You people are just lazy if you really want a title under your character name that noone is ever going to look at just go do it. Titles show that you have actually done something on your character, not that you beat factions 4 years ago on a dervish you made yesterday.

There was a thread sometime ago where an individual asked for a PvE toon much like a PvP toon, where you make a character that has everything unlocked at level 20; towns , outposts, the like. His idea was that then he could try builds and farms without having to do anything to get to those places. This thread is essentially the exact same thing. As i recall that thread ended with a resounding /NOTSIGNED. OP, make a new character, If the titles are so important on your main, well, they aren't going anywhere. Here is the only option you have: PLAY THE GAME.
Want a title? Earn it, on THAT CHARACTER. Want all your elite armors? BUY THEM ON THAT CHARACTER. Too lazy to be bothered? PLAY ANOTHER GAME.
I think its about time these players that can't be bothered to do what the game was intended to do try something that works in their favor, PLAY SOMETHING YOU LIKE. Stop asking for a completely different game, save the time , the energy, and most of all valuable server space, and try something that fits what you are looking for. Innumerable games are going free to play, finding something that fits what you are looking for is way easier then asking for an overhaul of whats just fine in this one.
So that's a massive /notsigned

How'd you earn your titles? Did you do any faction fast faction farming, wurms, speedbooking?

GRINDING 101:
Speed booking is how lots of people max their titles. FFF was the main way of getting kurz/lux titles maxed. Its sad that people were forced to grind it out or paid for titles. 100's of wurm runs etc are really lame imo especially since it's only to raise their pve skills level. Not like you can lose at any mish or run. It's mindless. A monkey could be trained to do it.

Decision makers at arenanet dont get it. They want to see how many hoops they can make us jump thru to keep people playing instead making the game fun. THEY SAID NO GRIND AND THAT'S ALL THEY GAVE US. That's why the OP is willing to shell out 10 bucks to change his main.

I'd like to see titles get maxed in the natural course of the game. NM/HM finish all quests and missions = maxed titles. It would encourage people to make new toons and get them quickly up to speed. Is this a bad idea? It would still take time and effort, but not nearly the grind.

I couldn't work at arenanet cuz I would have got fired when they said things like 10 million factions, 10,000 minutes, and other excessive bs grind. I'd have asked... and why again are we RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing our customers and then been fired.
